THE NEED
The customer needed a technology that would improve the power quality on a ship’s propulsion supply network and at the same time be suitable for the maritime environment.
OUR SOLUTION
Ortea, after an analysis of the customer’s specific requirements, identified and installed a 630kVA Orion Plus voltage stabiliser with ±15% regulation on board ship, improving the overall power quality of the system.
In addition, the location in a particularly aggressive environment required a series of construction measures. In fact, the cabinet in which the stabiliser is placed is equipped with a class C3 anti-corrosion paint (according to ISO12944 standards) to counteract deterioration due to the presence of salt and is IP23 protected, i.e. protected against water sprayed at an angle of ±60°.
In addition, the stabiliser is resting on “seismic dampers” that serve to dampen the vibrations and mechanical stresses arising from the movement of the ship.
