In the global industrial landscape, the ability to replicate and improve special equipment is an additional competence that is appreciated by the market. Ortea recently confirmed its capabilities in this area through a project for a Mexican customer specialising in the production of UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).
The customer was facing a critical problem: he needed to find a new supplier for isolation transformers and reactors with special features. In his search for a reliable partner, he contacted Ortea and asked to replicate and possibly improve the equipment he needed, not an easy challenge considering the complexity of the specifications.
ORTEA SOLUTION TO MEET THE CUSTOMER TECHNICAL NEEDS
To meet the customer’s needs, Ortea redesigned and implemented the following supply:
- n.6 160kVA at 60Hz Dzn0 K4 isolation transformers
- n.6 17kVA at 60Hz reactors with 470 μH inductance
This equipment was designed and manufactured with quality materials, using grain oriented iron and Kapton insulation. Kapton, easily recognisable by its characteristic orange colour, is known for its resistance to high temperatures, which make it suitable for a variety of industrial applications.
Furthermore, one of the technical specifications to be met for these transformers is to be able to withstand a Ripple frequency of 2500Hz. This feature is particularly relevant, as it implies a high level of losses that must be managed effectively.
THE REPLICATION PROCESS
Replicating special machines requires a number of advanced skills, including the ability to gather detailed information on technical specifications and size the equipment according to the customer’s requirements, while also considering any space constraints.
Ortea approached this challenge with a methodical approach, ensuring that every detail was replicated and improved from the original design.
Ortea approach and solution in a project like this demonstrate how the company is able to tackle complex challenges and provide effective solutions, confirming itself as a reliable and competent partner.
