THE PROBLEM: VOLTAGE FLUCTUATION AND LOW POWER FACTOR
The customer is a major food producer, with a production unit located in North Africa. The client’s pasta production plant experienced power quality issues due to excessive voltage fluctuations combined with a low power factor. These problems led to numerous additional and management costs caused by plant shutdowns and subsequent issues on the production line. The client was looking for an integrated technological solution capable of resolving the power quality issues while also functioning as a distribution board, without needing to expand or modify their existing electrical cabin. The electrical system in question is powered by two lines, each of which is flanked by two generator sets that automatically kick in to ensure production continuity in case of blackout.
ORTEA SOLUTION
After analyzing the situation, the technological solution proposed by Ortea was a Sirius voltage stabilizer ±20% of 2000kVA with dimensions of 3600x1000x2300mm and a weight of about 4700kg, accompanied by an additional unit, with dimensions of 6600x1000x2300 and a weight of about 4500kg.
The additional unit is composed of:
- Double power factor correction system of 700kvar each
- A series of automatic circuit breakers with distribution board function for both lines
- ATS to manage the automatic switch in case the generator set comes into operation
